KUALA LUMPUR, May 28 (Sin Chew Daily) — A Chinese woman and her aged mother stranded here due to the MCO are grateful that the Embassy of China has stepped in to offer assistance to them.

56-year-old Xiang told Sin Chew Daily she and her 89-year-old mother met two representatives from the Embassy after the Hari Raya break. They were accompanied by founder cum advisor of Malaysia-China Longyan Chamber of Commerce and Industry David Cheang Siew Giap.

"An embassy representative identified as Lin briefed us about the situation in China and informed us AirAsia now flies to China once a week.

"The representative also asked about my mother's health and her medication. She would be helping us to buy the medication and make arrangement for us," said Xiang.

Both were happy after meeting the embassy representatives and were looking forward to flying back to China soon.

Lin promised to contact AirAsia and make arrangement for them to return to China as soon as possible.

"I am very thankful to Cheang and Sin Chew Daily," said Xiang.

Sin Chew Daily earlier reported that Xiang and her mother arrived in Malaysia on March 17, and they have been stranded here until now. They have bought numerous air tickets trying to leave Malaysia but failed. Both were mentally and financially drained.

When their plight was featured in Sin Chew Daily, the Chinese embassy contacted them to offer assistance.
