Kuala Lumpur, Apr 27 (Sin Chew Daily) – All Members of Parliament are required to undergo COVID-19 tests two days before May 18—when the Parliament will resume again—before they are allowed to attend the sitting.
Several Pakatan Harapan MPs including Gobind Singh Deo, Mat Sabu and Shamsul Iskandar met Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Mohamad Ariff Md Yusof at the Parliament House today to discuss the upcoming parliamentary session.
A source told Sin Chew Daily, "The Speaker told us all MPs will have to undergo COVID-19 tests two days before May 18. The tests will be conducted within the Parliament House."
Due to the limited flights between East and West Malaysia, MPs from Sabah and Sarawak will have to make early arrangements for their tests.
The source also said the Speaker would work with the health ministry to exempt East Malaysian MPs from 14 days of quarantine upon their return from Kuala Lumpur.
The Secretariat of Parliament will issue the notice to all the MPs soon.
According to Pakatan Harapan MPs, although they had requested for at least two days of sitting for the new parliamentary session, their request had been turned down by the Speaker.
