Keng Yaik’s son to take on Gobind Singh in Damansara

PETALING JAYA: Lim Si Ching, son of former Gerakan Rakyat president the late Tun Dr. Lim Keng Yaik, is taking on Gobind Singh Deo, son of another political giant the late Karpal Singh, in Damansara parliamentary constituency.

Accompanied by his pregnant wife, Lim, who is contesting under Perikatan Nasional, visited voters in Damansara without an entourage of campaigners.

“I will continue to walk even if I am alone,” he said, as his team of campaigners were unable to reach Damansara Jaya food court at 8 p.m. due to rain and traffic congestion.

Lim introduced himself and answered queries raised by members of the public at the food court on Tuesday.

A resident asked him why he joined politics and contest in an election.

He replied that his father, one of the longest serving ministers in the cabinet, used to advise him about contributing to the society.

“My father used to tell us we should think of ways to contribute to the society, either through non-governmental organizations or political parties, instead of just thinking about making money.”

Lim, who joined politics in 2018, did not think that politics is dirty.

He is vying for the Damansara parliamentary seat, taking on Gobind Singh Deo of DAP and Tan Gim Tuan of MCA.

Incumbent Tony Pua is not contesting in the 15th general election.

Gobind, who has been member of parliament for Puchong since 2008, has switched to Damansara this time.
