Flying car project never discussed in cabinet

  • A cabinet minister confirms with Sin Chew Daily that the cabinet has never discussed nor approved the flying car project.
  • Redzuan claims that he has received very positive feedback from the people over the flying car project.

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 21 (Sin Chew Daily) -- The flying car project strongly advocated by entrepreneurship development minister Datuk Seri Mohd Redzuan Md Yusof has never been discussed or approved by the cabinet.

When contacted by Sin Chew Daily, a cabinet minister confirmed that the cabinet had never discussed the flying car project at all.

“Yes, he (Redzuan) has not submitted any report to the cabinet.

“As a matter of fact, many ministers do not really agree to this project,” he said.

The flying car project cannot yet take off in the country because there isn't any law at this moment to regulate such flying vehicles while all aviation activities require the approval of the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM).

According to a government source, the flying car project is a private sector project. However, the project has triggered widespread public misunderstanding that it is undertaken by the entrepreneurship development ministry because of Redzuan's overly strong “flying car spokesperson” image.

Sources have told Sin Chew Daily the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) scrutinising the flying car project does not view the project in a positive light as the country currently lacks the technology which needs to be brought in from Japan and China.

A source said the project had disappointed many people for fear public funds would be squandered on an “impractical” project.

“Redzuan does not think the same way. He claims that he has received very positive feedback from the people.

“The minister also argues that many people are supportive of the project.”
