Tengku Adnan: Umno mulling disciplinary action against MPs

  • Tengku Adnan says Umno disciplinary committee will summon MPs who met PKR deputy president Azmin Ali in private last night.

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 19 (Sin Chew Daily) -- Barisan Nasional secretary-general Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor said the Umno disciplinary committee would summon Umno Members of Parliament who met PKR deputy president Datuk Seri Azmin Ali in private last night.

Tengku Adnan said he was aware that Umno MPs had a meeting with Azmin, but was not sure of the motive of the meeting.

He said if the disciplinary committee found them acting against the party's interest, action would be taken against them.

According to a source, Azmin had invited 30 Umno MPs to the meeting but only about 19 turned up.

Azmin had asked Umno MPs to sign a statutory declaration to support Tun Mahathir to complete his full term of five years in exchange of immediate release of allocations for their constituencies.

Meanwhile, PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said he would wait until Azmin's presence at the party's political bureau meeting tomorrow to seek his explanation on the meeting with opposition representatives.
