SIBU: Sibu Hospital was lit up in green on Thursday night to pay tribute to the late Luk Siu King, senior assistant of SJK(C) Sacred Heart Sibu, whose kidneys and corneas were donated following her passing.
Luk’s selfless act marks Sibu Hospital’s first organ donation case since 2019. The retrieval procedure was completed on Thursday after Luk was certified brain-dead and her family consented to the donation.
Luk, 56, passed away on September 30, two days before her birthday. Amid their grief, her family made the selfless decision to extend her love and kindness by donating her organs to give others a new lease on life.

Affectionately known as Madam SK, Luk served SJK(C) Sacred Heart Sibu for nine years. News of her passing has left teachers and students deeply heartbroken.
Colleagues remembered her as someone who exemplified love, tolerance, and kindness, as well as a faithful servant of God.
One colleague recalled how Luk could patiently counsel misbehaving students for an hour without ever resorting to the cane. She was also deeply caring toward impoverished students and school cleaners, frequently buying them gifts out of her own pocket.
Meanwhile, Sibu Hospital described Luk on its official Facebook page as a loving wife, mother, and educator.

Transplant surgeries to take place in Peninsular Malaysia
The kidney retrieval surgery was performed by specialists from Sarawak General Hospital in Kuching, while the corneal retrieval was conducted by doctors from Sibu Hospital, supported jointly by organ procurement teams from Sibu Hospital and Kuala Lumpur. Both procedures went smoothly, and the transplant surgeries will be performed in Peninsular Malaysia.
Sibu Hospital extended its deepest respects and heartfelt gratitude to the donor’s family, stating: “In a moment of intense grief, the family made a decision filled with love, reflecting extraordinary compassion and courage.”
