PETALING JAYA: Her memory may have faded, but Wong Nyuk Ming is remembered as a loving mother who was always willing to help others, especially children.
Wong’s family consented to donating her corneas after the 78-year-old dementia patient passed away at Sungai Buloh Hospital on May 22.
The hospital’s organ and tissue donation unit shared on Facebook that despite her memory loss, Wong’s warm personality remained unchanged.
“Behind her strong character, she is a loving mother who is always willing to help others,” the post read.
It added that although her passing had left a void, her family’s decision offered a ray of hope to eye patients in need.
Wong grew up in Sarikei, Sarawak, before moving to Brunei with her late husband, who was working there.
She was later brought to Peninsular Malaysia by her daughter after being diagnosed with dementia.
