SERDANG: Three prominent Chinese community leaders will contest the presidency of the Federation of Chinese Associations Malaysia (Huazong) in its upcoming election on Sept 28.
The candidates are Datuk Lim Kah Chuan, Datuk Cheng Lai Hock, and Tan Sri Goh Ming Choon, better known as Barry Goh, said the election committee of Huazong.
Lim currently serves as Huazong deputy president and heads the Federation of Chinese Associations Johore. Cheng is president of the Kedah Chinese Assembly Hall, while Goh leads the Associated Chinese Associations of Pahang.
The election will take place during its annual general assembly, with 130 delegates casting their votes.
Each of the 13 states will be represented by 10 delegates.
Widely regarded as the umbrella body for Chinese organizations in Malaysia, Huazong is set to witness a leadership transition as current president Tan Sri T.C. Goh steps down after completing two terms.
