ALOR SETAR: Two cars parked on the rooftop to make space for tents in front of a house to host a wedding reception in a village near here has attracted the attention of on-lookers.

Construction worker Awang Ali Abdullah, 64, resorted to a creative way of resolving the problem of space shortage by using a crane to lift a Perodua Kancil and a Proton Saga to temporarily park the cars on the rooftop last Thursday.

His son had borrowed a small crane and spent 30 minutes lifting the two cars onto the rooftop.

Several men then went up to the roof to adjust the positions of the cars.

The wedding reception for his grandnephew was held last Saturday. Some 1,500 friends and relatives turned up and pictures of the two cars parked on the rooftop went viral on social media.

Some guests posed in front of the house to take pictures, making the two cars parked on the rooftop as a backdrop for their pictures.

Awang Ali said he built the house himself and the roof was made of concrete.

This was why he was confident to park the two cars on the rooftop.

However, he never expected the two cars parked on the rooftop to have generated so much public attention.

People have travelled from far and near just to take a look at the cars on rooftop.
