PETALING JAYA: A chef pays tribute to shuttler Lee Zii Jia by baking a fondant cake of the Olympics bronze medallist making a sign to remain quiet.
The photo of Lee placing a finger on his lips after beating Lakshya Sen from India to clinch the bronze medal in Paris 2024 went viral on social media.
Loh Chu Seng, popularly known as Chef Ryan, spent two hours creating a fondant cake of Lee based on the photo.
“I bake this cake to pay tribute to Lee, who is my idol.
“I love badminton and so far, I have only watched Lee playing in Paris 2024,” said the baker who has been baking for the Johor royal family since 2013.
Loh, founder of Chef and U Pastry based in Johor, also said he has customers who love cakes with badminton-related theme, and he hopes this Lee Zii Jia cake will become a hit among his customers who are also badminton fans.
The cake is up for sale at his bakery now.
If given a chance, Loh said he would want to present the cake to Lee personally to show his support.
“Currently the size of this cake is four–inch. If I were to present this cake to him, I will make an eight-inch one,” he said.
