KUANTAN: Gabungan Persatuan Cina Pahang, a group of Chinese associations in Pahang, has decided to defer its plan to purchase a building after failing to collect the pledged donations of RM1.18 million.
Datuk Wong Yuen Cheat, secretary of the organisation, said a total of RM1.18 million had been pledged by donors, but the organisation only managed to collect RM311,000 so far.
This means the organisation has not managed to collect 70% of the pledged donations.
This is the second year the organisation sought to defer the plan to purchase a new building in an annual general meeting held on 30 June.
A resolution was passed to keep the sum of RM311,000 in a fixed deposit.
The organisation deferred the plan in the annual general meeting last year on ground that it could not find a suitable building and could not secure sufficient fund.
A proposal was made to discuss whether to refund the collected sum to the donors.
A total of 133 delegates from 62 affiliated organisations have agreed at the AGM to defer the plan to purchase a new building to another year.
