Ren Dacheng, 30, who has drawn many portraits of the Chinese actress, was invited to touch up the mural of Fan after local council workers completed the portrait on 7 June.

Ren, who is very familiar with the actress, said her neck is slim and long and she has a sharp chin.

Besides drawing many portraits of Fan, Ren painted a mural of Fan Bingbing in Tianjin and hence he was invited to touch up the mural in Malacca, mainly on her eyes, mouth and a more colourful portrait of an ancient character played by Fan in Empress of China.

It is a form of cultural exchange between Chinese and Malaysian artists to collaborate in painting the role played by Fan in Empress of China, a TV series where Fan acted as the first empress of China.

Fan is scheduled to be appointed as the tourism ambassador for Visit Melaka 2024 on 14 June.

The actress will be at Jonker Walk to launch the mural.
