Najib’s jail term shortened to 6 years?

PETALING JAYA: Sources said the Pardons Board had decided to shorten the jail term of former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak from 12 years to six years.

Singapore’s CNA reported quoting senior government officials that the Pardons Board had also decided to reduce Najib’s RM210 million fine to an unspecified amount.

According to the report, the shortened jail term means Najib will be released in August 2026, if granted parole for good behaviour.

Najib’s lead counsel Muhammad Shafee Abdullah said he had yet to be informed of any decision by the Pardons Board.

Federal Territories Minister Dr Zaliha Mustafa confirmed yesterday that the Pardons Board held a meeting on Monday, without elaborating further.
