MELAKA: An online job scam victim is now making a monthly contribution of RM200 to Kesidang state assemblyman Allex Seah Shoo Chin to help others.
Seah received a message from the young man, who had sought his help to rescue him from the syndicate in Laos a year ago.
The young man, whom Seah had not met personally, sought his help through Instagram as he was beaten up and sold to another syndicate for not performing up to mark.
Seah communicated with the young man at night for more than two months before the latter was rescued by the Embassy of Malaysia in Laos after several failed attempts.
“I encouraged him not to give up while I continued to find a way to save him,” said Seah.
Together with another woman from Penang, both victims were sent back to Malaysia after the rescue.
More than 10 other Malaysians were also rescued after that, said Seah.
Seah recently received a message from this young man who said he would be making a monthly contribution of RM200 to him.
“I will contribute every month. The sum may not be large, but I am doing my best,” the man said.
Seah said he was moved by the young man in making an effort to help the other people.
