PETALING JAYA: Several road transport department (JPJ) offices in Klang Valley are without physical road tax stickers, according to insurance agents who frequent JPJ offices.
Members of the public are given a receipt for road tax renewals at the offices or post offices in Klang Valley, minus the physical stickers!
Some were told to collect the sticker at a later date.
Several insurance agents told Sin Chew Daily the physical stickers had run out of supply for several months and the situation is believed to last until end of this year.
Physical road tax stickers are not available in the JPJ offices in Petaling Jaya, Bandar Permaisuri, Bangi and UTC in Kuala Lumpur, according to the agents.
Private vehicles should not be facing issues with the popularity of MyJPJ app but commercial vehicles may still require physical road tax stickers, they said.
Many are worried about receiving summonses for not displaying the physical road tax stickers on the vehicle windscreen.
“We normally advise clients to print a copy of the digital road tax and keep the copy in the car,” said an agent.
Although the Ministry of Transport said earlier that senior citizens, commercial vehicles and foreigners would still be given physical road tax stickers, they are not spared from the shortage, said the agents.
“We have to look for a JPJ office which still has the physical road tax stickers in order to get one,” they said.
Insurance agents have been advising their clients to download MyJPJ app and learn how to use it.
