IPOH: Flight tickets for a return trip from Singapore to Ipoh for 2024 Chinese New Year have soared to RM3,000 each.
A check with two airlines–AirAsia and Scoot, Singapore’s low-cost airline flying Singapore and Ipoh–showed that a flight ticket from Singapore to Ipoh on February 8 (two days before CNY), and Ipoh to Singapore on February 18 (ninth day of CNY) have spiked to RM3,000.
Return tickets on AirAsia have reached RM2,986 while Scoot RM3,781.41.
2024 Chinese New Year falls on February 10, coinciding with the start of Malaysia’s one-month school holidays from February 9.
For both AirAsia and Scoot, the fare for one-way tickets from Singapore to Ipoh from February 6 onward is now over RM1,000, while one-way tickets from Ipoh to Singapore after the Chinese New Year are over RM1,000 before February 21.
Scoot offers two flights from Ipoh to Singapore on February 12, the third day of CNY, at RM2,096.40, while the February 14 flight RM1,910.07.
AirAsia charges RM1,209 for a flight from Ipoh to Singapore from February 15 to 19.
The fare for air tickets are down to below RM200 on February 22, the 13th day of CNY.
