JOHOR BHARU: Former Johor state legislative assembly Speaker Suhaizan Kaiat, who is also the vice chairman of Johor Parti Amanah Negara, is the only candidate proposed by the party to contest in the Pulai parliamentary by-election.
An insider of Johor Amanah told Sin Chew Daily the candidates for Pulai parliamentary seat and Simpang Jeram state seat have been finalized.
The list of candidates will be submitted by Johor Amanah to party headquarters.
Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi expressed his support for candidates fielded by Pakatan Harapan for the by-election in the spirit of Pakatan Harapan – Barisan Nasional unity government, when meeting Johor Amanah leaders.
Johor Amanah chairman Aminolhuda Hassan posted on his Facebook that Onn Hafiz had met with Johor Amanah leaders at his official residence on Sunday.
This also means that the ties between Pakatan Harapan and Barisan Nasional in Johor are cordial.
Aminolhuda also said Onn Hafiz would be attending the prayer session held for Datuk Seri Salahuddin Ayub at Simpang Jerai.
The Election Commission set the nomination of candidates for the Pulai parliamentary and Simpang Jeram state by-elections on August 26, with early voting on September 5 and polling day on September 9.
The seats fell vacant following the death of Salahuddin, who was also the minister of domestic trade and cost of living, on July 23.
