PUTRAJAYA: The 2023 first quarter median monthly income report released by the Statistics Department shows that Chinese Malaysians are the biggest earners at RM4,000 a month, followed by the Indians (RM2,500), Malays (RM2,200) and other communities (RM2,000).

However, Chief Statistician Datuk Seri Dr. Mohd Uzir Mahidin said in the press conference that this was only a preliminary report and the gap between various ethnic communities would be more stable after more comprehensive data has been collected.

“During the early stage, we did not collect most of the data from the public sector.

“Our report was based on the data provided by KWSP and Perkeso.”
