PUTRAJAYA: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said he had not instructed the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) to investigate and freeze the bank accounts of Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu).
He said MACC started to probe Bersatu after receiving complaints about misappropriation of government funds by the previous Perikatan Nasional administration.
As finance minister, Anwar said he found the cost of some tendered projects indeed too high.
He also said this week’s cabinet meeting had reiterated the unity government’s position for independent law enforcement, adding that it would be fine with him if the MACC decided to check Parti Keadilan Rakyat’s bank accounts.
