KUCHING: For the past 17 years, Kedai Runcit Abdul Wahet has been decorated with red lanterns, plum blossoms and auspicious images to usher in the Chinese New Year.

Although the operator of the sundry shop is an Indian Muslim, the banners with Chinese words and images of rabbits are found inside the shop this year.

Malini told Sin Chew Daily that her family is serious about spending money to decorate the shop according to festive seasons.

She said she would also put up decorations to celebrate Hari Raya, Christmas and other festive seasons, a reflection of cultural diversity in Sarawak.
