Tok Mat, Fadillah to be DPM?

KUALA LUMPUR: The new unity government is said to have two deputy prime ministers.

One of them is believed to be Umno’s deputy president Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan, while the other could be Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) whip Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof.

Fadillah was the senior minister of infrastructure development in Ismail Sabri’s administration.

Based on the agreement between Barisan Nasional, GPS and Pakatan Harapan, the two deputy prime minister posts will go to Umno and Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB).

Free Malaysia Today reported that Umno deputy president Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan could be appointed deputy prime minister.

“Tok Mat is the front-runner for the post, but let’s wait for Anwar’s announcement,” FMT reported, quoting a source.

66-year-old Mohamad Hasan is Rantau state assemblyman and incoming member of parliament for Rembau.

He was Negeri Sembilan menteri besar from 2004 to 2018.

PBB senior vice president, 60-year-old Fadillah Yusof will very likely be appointed the other deputy prime minister.
