KUALA LUMPUR: About 6,900 postal ballot papers have reached Malaysia from the United Kingdom on the eve of the polling day.
These ballot papers will be sent to the respective vote counting centers today.
Two Malaysian students in the UK arrived at Kuala Lumpur International Airport at about eight this morning, bringing back with them some five pieces of luggage with about 6,900 ballot papers from fellow Malaysians in the UK.
One of them said Malaysian students in the UK started organizing the collection of postal ballots from Malaysian voters living across the country and send them to a designated location before they are sent back to Malaysia.
The students started sorting the ballot papers from 11.00 p.m. Wednesday night before packing them into five pieces of luggage. The whole process took them almost six hours.
“The ballot papers were sent to the UK in three batches – on last Friday, this Monday and Wednesday.”
These ballot papers will later be sent to Kuala Lumpur and Selangor Chinese Assembly Hall, from where volunteers will deliver the ballot papers to various vote counting centers across the country.
In the meantime, Undi18 volunteers will continue to be stationed at Kaula Lumpur International Airport to receive the ballot papers sent in from across the world to ensure that overseas ballot papers can reach the respective vote counting centers throughout Malaysia before the deadline tomorrow.
