KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysian Indian Congress (MIC) president Tan Sri Vigneswaran Sanasee confirmed that his party would contest in the 15th general election.
He told the media after chairing the party’s emergency central working committee meeting today that party leaders unanimously accepted Barisan Nasional’s announcement of election candidates last night, adding that the announcement was “fair.”
Based on BN’s announcement yesterday, MIC will contest ten parliamentary seats in the coming election, namely Padang Serai, Sungai Siput, Tapah, Teluk Intan, Hulu Selangor, Kota Raja, Kuala Langat, Batu, Port Dickson and Segamat.
In the meantime, following the announcement of the candidature of MIC’s A Kohilan Pillay in Batu yesterday, MCA president Datuk Seri Wee Ka Siong announced in a press conference today that the Batu parliamentary seat would be contested by the party’s vice president Datuk Seri Yew Teong Look instead.
