Brazilian cowboys
Vaqueiros, or cowboys, in traditional leather garments, compete in the “Pega de Boi” (Ox Catch) tournament in Cabrobo, Brazil.
The riders compete in pairs to retrieve a cord from a released bull running away from them.
They are timed on how quickly they can return with the cord.
The leather clothing provides the contestants with protection from dense savanna vegetation which contains a lot of large thorns.
