SHAH ALAM: Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari retains as Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) Gombak division chairman, defeating Farhash Wafa Salvador Rizal Mubarak with a majority of 643 votes in the recent party elections.
Farhash is former Perak PKR chairman and former political secretary to Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
Unofficial poll results show that Amirudin secured 1,858 votes while Farhash 1,215 votes.
Former PKR deputy president Datuk Seri Azmin Ali, mentor to Amirudin, was the Gombak division chairman for three terms before he was expelled from the party.
The result of central leadership positions surprised many as secretary-general Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, who is contesting for deputy presidency in party election, lost in Gombak despite Amirudin’s support, while his opponent Rafizi Ramli secured 1,203 votes against Saufuddin’s 1,122 votes in Gombak.
Rafizi also defended his position as Pandan division chairman with a majority of 175 votes in a three -cornered battle.
He polled 548 votes, defeating opponents Mohamad Rashidi Hassan (373 votes) and Adnan Jaaffar (121 votes).
