Female former village head tipped to contest Jementah state seat in Johor polls

SEGAMAT, Feb 21 (Sin Chew Daily) – A female former village head of Kampung Baru Cina Tambang Batu 7 will likely be DAP’s candidate for the Jementah state seat in the coming Johor polls.

Announcement is expected to be made at 6pm on February 22 that Huang Ke Qing is contesting under the DAP ticket.

Huang, 39, married with a child, is currently helping out her father’s business.

Huang was the village head of Kampung Baru Cina Tambang Batu 7 under the Pakatan Harapan government. She was one of the seven female village heads in Segamat.

Female village heads made up of 43.75% of the 16 village heads of Chinese villages in Segamat district under the Pakatan Harapan government.

A reliable source told Sin Chew Daily DAP’s decision to field Huang is almost finalized and she had also started preparation.

After Jementah state assemblyman Tan Chen Choon announced that he would not be defending the seat, DAP started to source for a new candidate.

Several names were tipped to be the candidate for Jementah state seat, including Bentayan state assemblyman Ng Yak Howe and a former Segamat village development officer.

DAP won Jementah state seat for the first time in 1990. Tan won the state seat again in 2013, after a 23-year hiatus. He defended the seat in the last general election in 2018, defeating Chiam Yok Meng from MCA and Khairul Faizi Ahmad Kamil from PAS.
