PETALING JAYA, Feb 10 (Sin Chew Daily) — Secretary-general of Malaysian United Democratic Alliance (MUDA) Amira Aisya Abd Aziz is tipped to contest in the Puteri Wangsa state seat in Johor polls.
The 27-year-old law graduate from Johor is also a special officer to Muar parliamentary constituency.
She has been assisting Muar member of parliament Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman to serve the voters.
Reliable sources from MUDA said Syed Saddiq hopes to field more women candidates in Johor election.
The Puteri Wangsa state seat is considered a stronghold of the opposition with 112,856 voters.
Chinese make up of 51.3% of all the voters, followed by the Malays 35.6%, East Malaysian bumiputras 1.1%, Orang Asli 0.01% and 1.5% of others.
With more than half of the population in the state constituency being Chinese, the Puteri Wangsa state seat is considered one of the winnable seats by MUDA.
MUDA is contesting six state seats in the Johor polls, and Puteri Wangsa is seen by the party as the most winnable.
MUDA will be announcing its six candidates said to be from various ethnic groups on Saturday (Feb 12).
