Johor election: MUDA to contest 10 seats, but PH will only give up 6

JOHOR BAHRU, Feb 8 (Sin Chew Daily) – The seat distribution talks between the three parties of Pakatan Harapan and the Malaysian United Democratic Alliance (MUDA) are expected to conclude by this weekend.

If things go well, MUDA is expected to contest ten seats in the upcoming Johor state election, six offered by PH.

If an agreement cannot be reached for the other four seats, PH and MUDA will likely field their own candidates in these constituencies.

So far, Parti Keadilan Rakyat has agreed to give up Semarang and Sri Medan to MUDA; Parti Amanah Negara will give up Parit Raja and Bukit Kepong, while DAP offers Machap and Bukit Permai.

In addition to the above six constituencies, Sin Chew Daily has learned that MUDA is also hoping to get two additional seats each from PKR (among Bukit Gambir, Kempas and Larkin), and Amanah (among Puteri Wangsa, Bukit Permai, Tenang and Bukit Pasir).

In the earlier seat allocation agreement among PH parties, PKR and Amanah would contest 20 seats each while DAP will contest 16.

According to a PH insider source, there isn’t much problem with the negotiations between MUDA and Amanah. However, if an agreement could not be reached between MUDA and PKR, these two parties may field their own candidates in the constituencies concerned.
