DAP takes the lead in announcing Johor candidates

KLUANG, Feb 4 (Sin Chew Daily) — DAP will be the first party to announce its candidates for the upcoming Johor state polls.

DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng will be in Johor over the next three days.

Based on the invitation sent by the party, Lim will be announcing the candidate contesting in Paloh at 5pm Friday.

Incumbent Sheikh Umar Bagharib Ali will likely be the candidate for Paloh.

Lim will also be announcing the candidates for Mengkibol in Kluang and Penggaram in Batu Pahat over the following two days.

Sin Chew Daily learned that Penggaram incumbent Gan Peck Cheng, Johor Jaya incumbent Liow Cai Tung, Mengkibol incumbent Chew Chong Sin and Stulang incumbent Andrew Chen Kah Eng are likely to be fielded to defend their seats.

Skudai incumbent Tan Hong Pin and Pekan Nanas incumbent Yeo Tun Siong are likely defending their seats but Tangkak incumbent Ee Chin Li may contest a different state seat this time.

Two other DAP state assemblymen, Chew Peck Choo (Yong Peng) and Tan Chen Choon (Jementah) have announced that they would not be defending their seats.

Senai assemblyman Tee Boon Tsong will most likely be fielded in Yong Peng.

But Lim Guan Eng will likely not announce the candidacy for Senai state seat.

Two new faces – Wong Bor Yang, an aide of Kulai MP Teo Nie Ching, and Marina Ibrahim, a coordinator in Layang-Layang state constituency are tipped to be fielded in the state polls.
