PUTRAJAYA, Jan 24 (Sin Chew Daily) – The election commission will meet on February 9 to discuss the Johor state election and fix the nomination and polling dates.

EC secretary Ikmalrudin Ishak said the commission had been notified of the dissolution of the Johor state assembly on Sunday.

He said in a statement today that the February 9 meeting would be chaired by EC chairman Datuk Abdul Ghani Salleh.

It is generally believed that the Johor state election will be held after yuan xiao, or the last day of Chinese New Year celebration.
