A bunch of bananas for RM1,234 as senior citizen keyed in wrong figures in e-wallet

KOTA BHARU, Dec 11 (Sin Chew Daily) — A senior citizen paid RM1,234.56 for a bunch of bananas using e-wallet!

The 60-year-old senior citizen paid more than a thousand ringgit using e-wallet for a bunch of bananas which cost only RM7.30 at a sundry shop on November 10.

He returned to the shop later but was instead told a new owner had taken over the shop.

The senior citizen subsequently sought help from the Kelantan domestic trade and consumer affairs department to claim the excess payment.

He showed his e-wallet transaction records when lodging a complaint with the department on December 7.

Azanizam Affendi Juri, the chief enforcement officer of Kelantan domestic trade and consumer affairs department, said the department had investigated the case under Consumer Protection Act 1999 and had ordered the shop to return the excess payment of RM1,227.27.

Aznizam Affendi reminded consumers to be careful when making payment and check their payment records.
