PH to decide whether to accept Melaka defectors

PETALING JAYA, Oct 20 (Sin Chew Daily) – The Pakatan Harapan presidential council will meet this afternoon at the party’s headquarters over the upcoming Melaka state election which will be held on November 20.

The meeting will also discuss whether PH should accept the four incumbent state assemblymen who have defected in support of PH.

The four formerly pro-Perikatan Nasional assemblymen who defected and brought down the Melaka state government are: Umno’s Sungai Udang assemblyman Datuk Seri Idris Haron and Pantai Kundor assemblyman Nor Azman Hassan, Bersatu’s Telok Mas assemblyman Datuk Noor Effandi Ahmad and independent assemblyman Datuk Norhizam Hassan Baktee.

Several PH leaders told Sin Chew Daily they believed the presidential council would not accept assemblymen who had previously betrayed PH, namely independent Norhizam (formerly from DAP) and Bersatu’s Noor Effandi.

As for the other two Umno reps, as they are not “traitors” to PH, they will likely be accepted.

The sources also said the meeting would also discuss about seat allocation, including seats previously won by Bersatu candidates.
