KUANTAN, Sept 21 (Sin Chew Daily) — A group of volunteers have collected toys to be distributed to children undergoing isolation in hospital after testing positive for Covid-19.
Volunteers from Persatuan Ammi hope the toys would bring the children joy and boost their motivation during isolation.
Wang Yong Jie, one of the volunteers, said the group was invited by Lions Club to contribute toys to children at Tengku Ampuan Afzan Hospital in Kuantan in conjunction with the club’s upcoming event on September 25.
About 200 children are currently undergoing 14-day isolation at Tengku Ampuan Afzan Hospital.
They are being separated from their parents for 14 days while going through the quarantine period.
“The toys are collected from recycling event organized by our association and they are in good conditions. Some of them are new toys,’’ he said.
The volunteers have cleaned and sanitized the toys before putting them in boxes.
A total of four big boxes of toys will be sent to the hospital to be distributed to the children.
Wang said Persatuan Ammi encouraged members of the public to engage in recycling activities to reduce garbage and wastage.
Persatuan Ammi is also delivering food to the needy.
This is the association’s first time delivering toys to children.
“We hope the toys will cheer up the children,’’ he said.
