PETALING JAYA, Sept 10 (Sin Chew Daily) – Ministry of Health Director-General Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said no COVID-19 cases involving the “Mu” and “Lambda” variants had been detected in this country yet, and the two imported cases in Labuan were most likely to be of the “Delta” variant.
He told Sin Chew Daily in a telephone interview that so far no cases involving the “Mu” and “Lambda” variants had been detected in this country.
He insisted that the government would continue to carry out random genome tests on highly suspicious cases.
When asked about the statement by Labuan Health Director Dr Ismuni Bohari that two suspicious cases involving the “Mu” and “Lambda” variants could have been detected by the authorities, Dr Noor Hisham replied the two cases were most likely from the “Delta” variant which is the major transmissive virus at this moment.
