PUTRAJAYA, Aug 25 (Sin Chew Daily) – A total of 22,642 new COVID-19 cases were reported in the country as of noon today, including five imported cases.

Selangor reported 6,325 new cases, followed by Sabah (3,224), Kedah (2,279), Johor (1,832), Sarawak (1,667), Penang (1,427), Kelantan (1,424), Perak (1,390), Kuala Lumpur (1,128), Terengganu (744), Pahang (522), Melaka (342) and Negeri Sembilan (269).

To date there are a cumulative total of 1,616,244 confirmed cases and 1,337,134 recoveries (including 20,798 recovering today) at 82.73% recovery rate.

265 new deaths were reported today, taking the toll to 14,818.

There are currently 264,292 active cases, including 1,003 at ICUs, 490 requiring ventilators.
