Two finance ministers in Ismail Sabri’s cabinet?

PETALING JAYA, Aug 24 (Sin Chew Daily) – According to a source, Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia secretary-general Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainuddin will be appointed deputy prime minister.

There will also be two finance ministers, including former finance minister Tengku Zafrul who will be reappointed, and the prime minister himself.

It is learned that most of the members of the old cabinet will be reappointed by prime minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

Datuk Seri Azmin Ali, said to be one of the contenders for the deputy prime minister post, will still helm the international trade and industry portfolio.

Former health minister Datuk Seri Adham Baba will not be in the new cabinet. His place is expected to be taken over by former rural development minister Datuk Abdul Latiff Ahmad.

Tan Sri Annuar Musa is expected to helm the communications and multimedia ministry, and his federal territories portfolio will be taken over by Umno’s MP for Jelebu Datuk Jalaluddin Alias.

Umno vice president Datuk Seri Mahdzir Khalid is expected to be the new defense minister.

As for Umno leaders embroiled in court cases such as former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and MP for Putrajaya Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor, they will not be in the new cabinet.

The source said Ismail Sabri will have an audience with His Majesty Yang di-Pertuan Agong today to submit the cabinet line-up which is expected to be announced Wednesday.

However, another source said the Umno supreme council meeting originally planned for last Saturday has been rescheduled to this Thursday, when the new cabinet line-up and choice of deputy prime minister will be discussed.
