PUTRAJAYA, Aug 20 (Sin Chew Daily) – A record 23,564 new COVID-19 cases were reported in the country as of noon today, including 23 imported cases.

Selangor reported 6,974 new cases, followed by Sabah (2,738), Sarawak (2,548), Kedah (1,932), Kuala Lumpur (1,652), Penang (1,523), Johor (1,323), Kelantan (1,281), Perak (1,248), Melaka (610),  Negeri Sembilan (608), Terengganu (521) and Pahang (517).

To date there are a cumulative total of 1,513,024 confirmed cases and 1,241,894 recoveries (including 21,448 recovering today) at 82.08% recovery rate.

233 new deaths were reported today, taking the toll to 13,713.

There are currently 257,417 active cases, including 1,062 at ICUs, 518 requiring ventilators.
