Umno SC decision not unanimous: Zahidi

KUALA LUMPUR, July 8 (Sin Chew Daily) – Umno supreme council member Datuk Zahidi Zainul Abidin said the supreme council's decision to withdraw its support for prime minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin is not a unanimous one.

He told Sin Chew Daily six supreme council members did not sign the statutory declaration to withdraw their support for Muhyiddin.

He said other than himself, Datuk Tajuddin Abdul Rahman and Khaidhirah Abu Zahar also did not sign. He said he wasn't sure about the other three, but could include also Datuk Seri Abdul Azeez Abdul Rahim.

As said as he had already expressed his stand of not supporting party president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi's move, and as such he was not invited to sign the statutory declaration.

He said supreme council members had been arranged in batches of two or three to meet Zahid, former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, Umno deputy president Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan and secretary-general Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan to sign the statutory declaration.

"They already have the support of the majority and can do anything they want."

Zahidi, who is also deputy communication and multimedia minister, said Umno should have consulted the Barisan Nasional supreme council as Umno candidates contested in the election under the BN banner.
