PUTRAJAYA, May 24 (Sin Chew Daily) – A total of 6,509 new COVID-19 cases were reported in the country as of noon today, including 20 imported cases.

Selangor reported 2,049 new cases, followed by Sarawak (530), Kuala Lumpur (468), Johor (468), Kelantan (451), Penang (384), Kedah (348), Negeri Sembilan (329), Melaka (329), Terengganu (263), Pahang (257), Perak (231), Sabah (184) and Labuan (171).

To date there are a cumulative total of 518,600 confirmed cases and 456,273 recoveries (including 3,452 discharged today) at 87.98% recovery rate.

A record 61 new deaths were reported today, taking the toll to 2,309.

There are currently 60,018 active cases, including 711 at ICUs, 369 requiring ventilators.
