PETALING JAYA, Mar 31 (Sin Chew Daily) — Sin Chew Daily Editor-in-Chief Kuik Cheng Kang said visit by the new United States Ambassador to Malaysia Mr Brian D. McFeeters to Sin Chew Daily's headquarters in Petaling Jaya yesterday would further deepen mutual understanding and relationship between both sides.

"We welcome Mr McFeeters to return to Malaysia for a second time, this time as the United States Ambassador. We also welcome Mr McFeeters to the Sin Chew Daily headquarters."

Kuik said jokingly that he was impressed by the fluent Malay McFeeters had picked up during his previous stint here, and hoped he would soon learn to speak Mandarin and Tamil as well this time!

Taking the opportunity of the visit, Kuik gave the Ambassador a brief account of the media organization.

"Sin Chew Daily boasts a daily circulation of 350,000, including the e-paper, with a combined readership in excess of 1.5 million.

"Sin Chew Daily is not only the most read Chinese language newspaper in Malaysia, but also in the world outside Greater China."

He also said Sin Chew Daily launched its website Sinchew.com.my in 2000, and a Facebook page in 2012, followed by its mobile application in 2013, and a Weibo account and Sin Chew ePaper the following year.

"Sinchew.com.my has an average of 7 to 10 million unique visitors a month, with its Facebook followers numbering 2.2 million. As for the Instagram site set up in 2017, we already have more than 290,000 followers at this moment."

Ambassador McFeeters was visiting the Sin Chew Daily headquarters in Petaling Jaya Tuesday morning in the company of embassy information officer Michelle Kevern and press assistant Thomas Chong.

After visiting the Sin Chew History Gallery and watching a corporate video presentation on the newspaper's 90-year history, the Ambassador had a cordial dialogue with representatives from Sin Chew Daily's editorial desk, including deputy executive editor-in-chief Tay Tian Yan, chief operating officer (content & commercial) Tan Lee Chin, corporate communications and promotion general manager Tan Kim Chuan, deputy editor-in-chief Hwn Yaul Len and international news reporter Vincent Cheong Jia Wei.
