Some MM2H applicants withdrawing from program

PETALING JAYA, Mar 25 (Sin Chew Daily) — Some Malaysia My Second Home (MM2H) applicants are withdrawing from the program which has been suspended for more than six months.

About 6,000 MM2H applications are pending since the program was suspended last July.

Malaysian My Second Home Consultants Association (MM2HCA) president Anthony Liew said although the suspension took effect in July last year, some applications made in November 2019 had been shelved due to the implementation of Movement Control Order in March 2020.

This means some of the applications have been put on hold for more than a year.

Some applicants who planned to let their children study in Malaysia have since withdrawn from the program and apply for similar programs elsewhere, he said.

"Many agents do not contact the applicants as they are unable to provide the latest updates on MM2H to the applicants," he said.

Liew said although he did not have the exact figures, most of the 6,000 MM2H applicants are from Hong Kong, China and South Korea.

"Many Hong Kong residents prefer Malaysia due to the quality education and affordable living cost," Liew said, adding that some applicants have opted to stay in Malaysia after their retirement.

Liew urged the government to restart the program as soon as possible.
