PETALING JAYA, Mar 11 (Sin Chew Daily) — In conjunction with the first anniversary of the Perikatan Nasional government, Sin Chew Daily and Sinar Harian collaborated in a joint poll which attracted the participation of 24,370 readers.

Of the total, Malays and bumiputras made up 54.02% (13,032 readers), Chinese 32.26% (7,783), Indians 5.94% (1,434), Sabah and Sarawak natives 7.37% (1,778) and others 0.4% (96).

Among the respondents who took part in the poll, more than half are aged between 31 and 50, of whom 7,652 (31.52%) are aged between 31 and 40 and 5,253 (21.64%) are between 41 and 50.

A total of 2,712 respondents (11.17%) are aged between 51 and 60, while 1,418 respondents (5.84%) are above the age of 60.

Young readers made up close to 30%, of whom 20.64% (5,012 respondents) are aged between 22 and 30. There are 9.19% of respondents (2,231 respondents) aged between 18 and 21, who will be voting for the first time in the next general election.

The public poll was conducted from February 26 to March 5.
