PENANG, Jan 18 (Sin Chew Daily) — A barefoot teenager who is pushing his uncle on a wheelchair to sell packets of snacks at a shopping mall, is in tears when a stranger buys him a watch.

The teenager, who used to wear a paper watch, now owns a real watch!

The incident took place at 6pm on January 5, when the teenage boy wheeled his uncle to sell snacks ranging from RM1 to RM2 at Bukit Jambul Complex.

33-year-old factory worker Bob told Sin Chew Daily: "I may not be earning a lot, but I think the money spent on the watch is worthwhile, as I am able to make a teenager happy."

Bob, who met the teenager and his uncle on wheelchair at the mall, was curious about the barefoot teenager. He thought the teenager should be studying instead of selling snacks at a mall.

He was even more stunned to see the teenager wearing a paper-drawn watch on his wrist!

The teenager later told Bob he wanted to have a watch but could not afford it.

Without hesitation, Bob told the teenager: "Let's go, I'll buy you a watch."

Both the teenager and his uncle were in tears when they heard Bob's reply.

At a watch shop inside the mall, the teenager chose a watch with a red band.

The teenager's uncle could not believe that Bob was actually buying his nephew a watch.

"Are you sure? You want to buy him a watch?" asked the uncle.

"Both of them were wiping their tears when I paid for the watch," said Bob.

The teenager wanted to give some of the snacks to Bob.

"I give him RM200 and return all the snacks so he could sell the next day," said Bob.

They then took a photograph together.

Bob said he would return to the mall to look for them after MCO is over, to buy new shoes and clothes for them.

"I love watches too. The boy couldn't afford a watch and had to wear a paper watch.

"I hope I have fulfilled his dream."

Bob bought a more than RM100 watch for the boy. Now the two of them are actually wearing the same type of watch!
