KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 11 (Sin Chew Daily) – Prime minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin will announce the latest COVID-19 measures at 18:00 this evening via a live telecast.

The national address will be broadcast live on RTM, Bernama TV, TV3, Astro Awani and the prime minister's official Facebook page.

This will be Muhyiddin's first TV appearance after his New Year speech on December 31. Defence ministry senior minster Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob and health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah will not have any press conference today.

The Star has earlier reported that Muhyiddin might seek the consent of His Majesty Yang di-Pertuan Agong for a second time to declare a state of emergency across the country in the wake of worsening COVID-19 outbreak.

It also reported that the prime minister would have an audience with the King this afternoon to brief His Majesty on what was discussed in this morning's special cabinet meeting.

Meanwhile, the prime minister's office has refuted rumors that Muhyiddin is undergoing cancer treatment in Singapore and that he will appoint a deputy prime minister.
