KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 7 (Sin Chew Daily) – An Umno supreme council member told Sin Chew Daily the party's meeting last night indeed discussed the withdrawal of support for the Perikatan Nasional government.

However, the proposal was eventually turned down by the supreme council for fear prime ministers Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin might turn to other parties such as Keadilan and DAP to form a new government, making Umno an opposition party again.

"Yes, the status quo will remain until the next general elections."
