Umno, PPBM supreme councils to meet separately over cooperation

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 5 (Sin Chew Daily) – Both Umno and Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia will hold their respective supreme council meetings tomorrow to discuss further cooperation between the two parties.

PPBM supreme council member Wan Saiful Wan Jan told Sin Chew Daily the party will hold its meeting tomorrow to discuss the issue of some Umno divisions refusing to work with PPBM in the next general election.

"We'll have a meeting… and make an announcement later."

Meanwhile, PPBM Youth chief Wan Ahmad Fayshal said when contacted by Sin Chew Daily that there was still room for negotiation between the two parties' leaders.

"There are different factions within Umno. Some want to work with PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and DAP and others reject Anwar and DAP.

"It's still premature to make a conclusion now."

He said he regretted the decision of some Umno divisions refusing to work with PPBM, and believed there was still room for negotiation.

He also said Umno would discuss this issue in its supreme council meeting Wednesday.
