Passenger must scan MySejahtera code on e-hailing car

PETALING JAYA, Dec 3 (Sin Chew Daily) — Malaysia E-Hailing Drivers Association (MeHDA) president Daryl Chong reminds passengers that they must scan the MySejahtera QR code displayed on the e-hailing car or fill in their contact particulars before boarding the car.

During a telephone interview with Sin Chew Daily, Chong said many passengers are still unaware of this SOP announced last week by the national security council.

He said e-hailing drivers had only been informed of this SOP by their companies several days ago, and many were only beginning to apply and display their MySejahtera QR codes yesterday.

Although this measure is meant to facilitate the tracking of a passenger's whereabouts, Chong feels that this nevertheless overlaps with the e-hailing company system's information, as the company's vehicle booking system can also track a passenger's whereabouts.

He said his association would monitor the situation for another few days and collect the feedback from drivers before reflecting the effectiveness of the measure to the government.
