PUCHONG, Nov 10 (Sin Chew Daily) — Ramai Food Center in Puchong has launched RM5 meal coupons for the needy.
A total of 1,200 meal coupons valued at RM5 each have been jointly launched by social activist Kuan Chee Heng, better known as Mr Potato, Chinese organizations in Puchong and 32 hawkers at Ramai Food Center.
The Mr Potato Foundation set up by Kuan, also a founder of Community Policing Malaysia, has so far received a total donation of RM6,000 to launch the meal coupon program for the jobless and poor during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Those who have no money to buy food can pick up a meal coupon at Ramai Food Center in Puchong and use it there.
The food court also offers free Chinese tea or plain water to those who dine in.
Kuan urges donors to continue supporting the food program by sponsoring meal coupons.
These coupons are pinned on the notice board at the food court and whoever needs the coupon can pick up from there.
The food program is expected to last for a year, and the organizers hope more organizations will come forward to help the needy.
