PUTRAJAYA, Oct 6 (Sin Chew Daily) — Prime minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin admitted that the Sabah state election campaign was one of the reasons for the recent spike in COVID-19 cases in the country.
He said in a special address to the nation today that physical distancing SOPs were not well heeded during the election period.
He also said the health ministry would take more aggressive screening, including in prisons and detention centers.
The prime minister also said the government had no plans as yet to reinstate another nationwide lockdown, as this would have a major impact on the country's economy.
However, he said the government would discuss whether to ban cross-state travels once again.
