SEPANG, Sept 28 (Sin Chew Daily) – 52-year-old Jamilah Rosmah said she regretted having received the free air tickets for her and her husband to fly to Sabah to vote, as she had to spend eight hours upon arrival at the airport, including waiting for COVID-19 test, and pay for the 14-day quarantine at a hotel.
She told Sin Chew Daily at klia2 last night that they were given free return air tickets sponsored by an NGO to travel to Sabah to vote, and were promised to get free meals after the election.
However, in the end she and her husband only received bread and mineral water when they arrived at klia2.
She said after her flight touched down at klia2 at 16:00, she was arranged to wait for her COVID-19 test in a small room. From what she understood, over a hundred other passengers from four flights arriving from Sandakan, Tawau and other places were also waited in the packed room.
"They took turns to do the tests on us and told us we had to go on home quarantine for 14 days."
However, she said she had to tell her children to look for a budget hotel room for her and her husabnd to quarantine as there was a pregnant woman and several grandchildren at home.
She also said they waited until around midnight to get the clearance to leave the airport.
"I regret a lot having flown back to Sabah to vote."
